IKEBANA INTERNATIONAL SINGAPORE CHAPTER 135 PRESENTS
IKEBANA, back to basics
EXHIBITION @ JAPAN CREATIVE CENTRE, 4 Nassim Road, Singapore 258372
Oct 3-5 2017, 10.00 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Ikebana-the Japanese art of flower arranging is a subtle, sensitive and sophisticated art form having a recorded history from many centuries. It is steeped in the philosophy of developing proximity with nature. Ikebana is a form of art, similar to painting and sculpture. The artist expresses his creativity by using the medium of natural floral materials and containers.
The fundamentals of Ikebana are as relevant today as they were centuries ago but the art form has evolved to suit the modern society. Like in all art forms, if one has knowledge of some basic rules and concepts developed by the masters over the years, then one can certainly try appreciating or doing Ikebana.
Ikebana International Singapore Chapter 135 presents IKEBANA -BACK TO BASICS to showcase the basics of Ikebana. At this exhibition, through the distinctive styles of Ikebanists from different Ikebana schools, one can appreciate the basic fundamentals of minimalism, lines, space, asymmetry, colour & contrast which are prevalent in the art of Ikebana.
